Welcome to Mia Loaf, one of the Internet’s premier food blogs and recipe websites for gluten free cooking and baking. I’m Mia Hunn, and it’s so nice to meet you. I founded this website in 2025
This mialoaf food blog has hundreds of tried-and-true original recipes, plus tips and guidance to help you make gluten free eating more enjoyable — and more affordable. That’s been my goal from the beginning of MiaLoaf.com . Here, you’ll find recipes for everything from delicious gluten free cookies and “can’t believe it’s gluten free” breads to gluten free pies and of course, gluten free dinners that even non-gluten free folks will enjoy. The guiding principle of all of my recipes is that “good, for gluten free” just isn’t good enough. The food we make has to be really good—period.
When I launched Mia’s Loaf back in 2025, there weren’t many gluten free blogs or resources for gluten free recipes. There was clearly a need to support the gluten free community, and I felt driven to meet it. The blog quickly became a trusted source for gluten free recipes

About Mia Hunn
Like many people, my journey to gluten free baking didn’t begin in a kitchen — it started in a completely different world. I earned my undergraduate degree from UCLA and went on to complete a master’s in education. I spent years teaching in classrooms, helping children learn how to read, write, and believe in themselves. It was work that felt deeply meaningful — and yet, something else kept tugging at me.
When one of my children was diagnosed with celiac disease, everything changed. Our family kitchen became a place of stress, confusion, and label-reading marathons. Suddenly, the familiar comfort of homemade cookies or birthday cake became minefields of gluten. I couldn’t find store-bought options that satisfied us, and I was frustrated by recipes that didn’t live up to their promises.
So I started experimenting.
What began as a necessity quickly turned into a passion. I taught myself how to bake all over again — this time without wheat, barley, or rye. Slowly, the kitchen became a place of joy again. I started sharing my recipes on a blog, just to connect with others who might be going through the same thing. I didn’t expect it to grow — but it did. And then came a book deal, then another, and eventually, a whole career built around making gluten free feel not just possible, but delicious.
My background in education still shapes how I write recipes. I try to make every step clear, every process teachable. Because I know how overwhelming gluten free living can be — and I also know how transformative it is to finally enjoy a slice of bread, a chewy cookie, or a birthday cake you made yourself.
This isn’t just about food. It’s about comfort, connection, and confidence — and I’m so grateful to be part of your journey.
Mia’s favorites
Here’s a selection of some of my all-time favorite recipes from the blog. And yes, they all include chocolate… what can I say, I’m a HUGE chocoholic (seriously, chocolate is my favorite food group) and I firmly believe that there’s no such thing as too much chocolate.
